| Penerangan CU | Perform offshore pedestal crane lifting operation describes the competency required to operate offshore pedestal cranes on fixed platforms and marine decks for supply-boat backloading/offloading and deck transfers. The scope covers sea-state and wind limitations, pendulation and heave control, line-of-sight or camera-assisted placement, and safe handling of personnel and materials. It also addresses simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) and permit-to-work (PTW) interface requirements to ensure safe coordination with other offshore activities. The competency further requires compliance with Working at Height (WAH) procedures for safe access to the crane cabin, machinery deck, and boom structures, including correct use of fall-protection systems and designated access routes at elevation. Operations and records must be executed in accordance with platform standard operating procedures (SOPs), recognised offshore lifting practices, international maritime guidelines, and established codes of practice such as American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practice 2D (API RP 2D) – Operation and Maintenance of Offshore Cranes, applicable safety regulations, and manufacturer’s manuals. The crane types covered under this competency are Offshore Pedestal Cranes, including stiff-boom, knuckle-boom, and lattice or box-boom variants. The person who is competent in this CU should be able to inspect offshore pedestal crane condition, conduct offshore pedestal crane functional test without load, carry out offshore pedestal crane lifting activities and carry out offshore pedestal crane shutdown. The outcome of this CU is pedestal crane operated to lift, transfer, and lower loads safely and accurately, with system checks, functional testing, lifting execution, and shutdown activities performed according to operational procedures, crane specifications, and site safety requirements. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | The learning outcomes of this competency are to enable the trainees to perform offshore pedestal crane lifting operation ensuring proper inspection, functional testing, safe lifting activities, and correct shutdown in accordance with American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practice for the Operation and Maintenance of Offshore Cranes (API RP 2D), manufacturer’s manual, and safe working procedures (SWP). Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees should be able to: 1. Inspect offshore pedestal crane condition. 2. Conduct offshore pedestal crane functional test without load. 3. Carry out offshore pedestal crane lifting activities. 4. Carry out offshore pedestal crane shutdown. |
