Tajuk CUPerform Mobile Crane Lifting Operation
Penerangan CUPerform mobile crane lifting operation describes the competency required to plan, set up, execute, and close out wheeled mobile crane lifting operations in compliance with safety regulations, site lifting plan specifications, and manufacturer operation manuals. The scope covers boom configuration, outrigger deployment, rigging interface, RCI/LMI and A2B settings, hazard controls (ground bearing, wind limits, clearances), and controlled on-site travel or pick-and-carry where permitted, in accordance with P.U.(A) 99/2024, DOSH requirements, manufacturer manuals, and the approved method statement. Operators of mobile cranes are required to hold a valid Competency Certification Competent Person (Orang Kompeten, OK) from DOSH (Mobile Crane). Where the crane is driven on public roads, the operator must also possess a valid Competent Driving Licence (CDL) of the appropriate class (E/E1/E2 as applicable) and a Goods Driving Licence (GDL), in compliance with Road Transport Department (RTD) requirements.

This unit covers major categories of mobile cranes, namely All-Terrain Cranes (AT), Rough-Terrain Cranes (RT), Truck-Mounted Cranes, City or Compact Telescopic Cranes, Telescopic Mobile Cranes, and Lattice-Boom Mobile Cranes, representing the key types used across diverse lifting operations.

The person who is competent in this CU should be able to conduct mobile crane pre-lift visual inspection, position mobile crane at lifting location, deploy mobile crane outriggers, operate boom and lifting component and carry out mobile crane post-lifting operation.

The outcome of this CU is a fully operated mobile crane lifting activity, completed in accordance with approved lifting plans, operational safety procedures, and post-lifting housekeeping requirements.

Objektif PembelajaranThe learning outcomes of this competency are to enable the trainees to perform mobile crane lifting operation ensuring safe positioning, lifting, and post-operation handling in accordance with lifting plan, manufacturer’s manual, and safe working procedures (SWP).

Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees should be able to:
1. Conduct mobile crane pre-lift visual inspection.
2. Position mobile crane at lifting location.
3. Deploy mobile crane outriggers.
4. Operate boom and lifting component.
5. Carry out mobile crane post-lifting operation.
