| Penerangan CU | Perform crane pre-operation inspection describes the competencies required to ensure that all crane systems are thoroughly inspected and confirmed safe and ready for operation prior to any lifting activity. This unit applies across all crane types and emphasises compliance with established safety standards, providing assurance that every crane is prepared to meet operational and regulatory requirements before use. The person who is competent in this CU should be able to inspect crane structural integrity, inspect crane mechanical mechanism, inspect crane control system functionality, conduct no-load crane running test, inspect crane firefighting equipment and document crane inspection findings. The outcome of this CU is that all crane systems are thoroughly checked and confirmed safe and ready for lifting operations, with compliance to operational and safety procedures established through systematic inspection and documentation. • This competency unit covers inspection and functional testing of crane systems, including structural, mechanical, and control components, to ensure readiness for safe lifting operations. Certain control features, such as the emergency stop button, may not be applicable to all crane types (e.g. mobile cranes) and are to be referred to in relevant elective competency units where applicable. |
