| Penerangan CU | Perform confined space gas testing describes the competency to plan, execute and document atmospheric gas testing for confined space entry, ensuring the air quality is safe for human occupancy before and during work activities. It involves the correct application of gas detection techniques to monitor for flammable gases, toxic substances and oxygen levels. Competency in this area is crucial for preventing fatalities due to oxygen deficiency, toxic exposure, or explosions inside confined spaces. The person who is competent in this CU should be able to plan confined space gas testing work, prepare confined space gas testing equipment, carry out confined space gas testing work and interpret gas testing result. The outcome of this CU is identification, quantification and control atmospheric hazards, making informed decisions to prevent injuries, illness, or death. This competency is vital for ensuring safe working conditions and regulatory compliance in confined space operations across all industrial sectors in accordance with Malaysia’s Industry Code of Practice for Safe Working in Confined Space 2010 (ICOP CS 2010), Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) guidelines and recognized best practices in confined space operations. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | The learning outcomes of this competency are to enable the trainees to plan confined space gas testing work, prepare confined space gas testing equipment, carry out confined space gas testing work and interpret gas testing results in accordance with legal and best practice requirements, ensuring the identification, quantification and control of atmospheric hazards to support informed decisions that prevent injuries, illness or death. This competency is vital for ensuring safe working conditions and regulatory compliance in confined space operations across all industrial sectors in accordance with Malaysia’s ICOP CS 2010, DOSH guidelines and recognized best practices in confined space operations. Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees should be able to: 1. Plan confined space gas testing work. 2. Prepare confined space gas testing equipment. 3. Carry out confined space gas testing work. 4. Interpret gas testing result. |
