| Penerangan CU | Primary sewage treatment process maintenance describes the competency required to operate the mechanical and electrical aspects of the treatment plant components such as bar screens, comminutors (a large version of a garbage disposal), grit chambers and primary clarifiers as the sewage first enters a treatment plant. The primary process is the first step in sewage treatment which involves screening of incoming influent, which removes large pieces of rubbish. Next, the suspended solids and greases are separated from the sewage. The partially treated sewage from the primary settling tanks then flows to the next treatment process. He/She has to apply safe work practice in the operation and maintenance work which involves routine recording, reporting of anomalies, routine system adjustments and cleaning activities. The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to determine components and equipment of the primary sewage treatment process, carry out site observation of primary sewage treatment, inspect mechanical and electrical conditions of primary treatment process, carry out maintenance of the mechanical and electrical equipment, carry out corrective actions for primary sewage treatment process and carry out site maintenance for primary sewage treatment process. The outcome of this competency is to ensure that the primary treatment process is operated according to manufacturer specifications and operational procedure instructions. |
