| Penerangan CU | Casting operation supervision is a competency of planning, organizing, leading and controlling of all resources to achieve all casting operation objectives in accordance with customer and or organization standard & requirements. (Japan International Standard, American Foundry Society, British Standards, ASTMD7765, MS303, MS505 are among the popular standard used) Effective supervision is important as the casting operation process affects directly on production process and foundry end product result. The person who is competent in casting operation will be able to perform casting operation planning, Perform casting operation resources allocation, perform operation briefing, monitor casting operation, establish casting operation performance status, and handle casting operation performance problem in accordance with organizations and or customer requirements. An effective casting operation supervisor should be able to plan, organize, lead and control the production team to accomplish all assigned tasks and achieve the specified objectives as required by the organization. He should ensure that all resources are correctly allocated and team members leaded toward goals achievement. His performance should be measured based on the pre-determined measurable objective assigned at the beginning of the performance appraisal period. In order to reach the casting operation objectives, the supervisor lead his team in preparing melting furnace to meet start-up condition requirements and ready for melting operation, ensuring the casting materials charged by batches in the right quantity, adding additive at the right quantity and ratio, stirring molten metal safely with minimum spillage, and removing slag, taking material sample in a safe manner and conducting test as specified and product properties confirmed, ensuring that pouring and casting process carried out in safe manner, ladle movement safely handled, pouring operation carefully performed to produce smooth surface, minimum allowable cavity and no other rejected properties, and at an allowable tolerance of joint accuracy. Casted product carefully removed with zero removal based defects. Ensuring the final product finishing process performed to produce smooth surface with accurate shapes and edges using proper workshop technology tools and techniques. Monitoring process waste materials segregated where total recyclable materials weighted accurately and return to production floor and non-recyclable waste is disposed using the normal industrial waste disposal systems. The outcome of this CU is to meet occupational skills standard which incorporate the skills, knowledge and attitude to be delivered systematically |
