| Penerangan CU | Hot-dipped galvanising (HDG) is the process of dipping fabricated steel into molten zinc. The iron metallurgically reacts with molten zinc to form a tightly-bonded alloy coating that provides superior corrosion protection to the steel.. This CU covers the sequence of activities in the hot-dipped galvanising process in accordance with international blasting & coating standard (NACE, SSPC, ASTM, ISO). The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to identify hot-dipped galvanising job requirements, prepare hot-dipped galvanising work area, prepare hot-dipped galvanising tools, equipment, carry out preliminary check on items to be painted, prepare hot-dipped galvanising materials, check climatic condition, perform hot-dipped galvanising activity, control wet film thickness, shut down equipment and carry out housekeeping activities. The outcome of this CU is the development of hot-dipped galvanising operation competencies required by an industrial painter. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to perform hot-dipped galvanising works in accordance with blasting & coating standards and client requirements. Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees will be able to:- 1. Identify hot-dipped galvanising job requirements 2. Prepare hot-dipped galvanising work area 3. Prepare hot-dipped galvanising tools and equipment 4. Carry out preliminary check on items to be galvanised 5. Prepare hot-dipped galvanising materials 6. Perform surface preparation 7. Perform hot-dipped galvanising activities 8. Check dry film thickness (DFT) of galvanising coating 9. Perform housekeeping activities |
