Penerangan CUThe Competency Unit Title describes the competency needed by persons in conducting Wireless Radio Equipment Maintenance activities.

For the purpose of this Competency Unit, Wireless Radio Equipment Maintenance covers:
• Preventive or Preventative
• Diagnostic or Troubleshooting, and
• Corrective Maintenance

These activities are conducted by Wireless Radio Equipment Installation and Maintenance Technician and Supervisor.

Preventive or Preventative Maintenance is a Routine Maintenance which is designed to prevent the need for more costly repairs. By regularly engaging in activities which contribute to the upkeep of the Wireless Radio Equipment, a Technician or a Supervisor may be able to sidestep serious problems which arise as a result of neglect, and more expensive maintenance can be delayed. When and as necessary, worn components or other essential parts of the Wireless Radio Equipment are replaced before they have the chance to create additional stress on other components and possibly cause a loss of quality of the equipment. Just about every Preventive Maintenance Plan will include cleaning equipment, Manufacturers and engineers often design very specific Preventive Maintenance Programs for Technician or Supervisor to follow when examining equipment. When designing a Preventive Maintenance Program, an expert will consider every possible defect that could affect a system.

In general, troubleshooting maintenance is the identification of or diagnosis of defect or problem in a system caused by a failure of some kind. The problem is initially described as symptoms of malfunction, and troubleshooting is the process of determining and remedying the causes of these symptoms. Troubleshooting maintenance often applied to repair failed equipment. It is a logical, systematic search for the source of a problem so that it can be solved, and so the equipment can be made operational again.

Troubleshooting is needed to develop and maintain complex systems where the symptoms of a problem can have many possible causes. Troubleshooting is used in many fields such as engineering, electronics, and automotive repair. Finally, troubleshooting requires confirmation that the solution restores the equipment to its working state.

Corrective Maintenance is a maintenance task performed to identify, isolate, and rectify a fault so that the failed equipment, machine, or system can be restored to an operational condition within the tolerances or limits established for in-service operations. Corrective Maintenance can be subdivided into Immediate Corrective Maintenance (in which work starts immediately after a failure) and Deferred Corrective Maintenance (in which work is delayed in conformance to a given set of maintenance rules).

He or she is directly involved and responsible in carrying out Wireless Radio Equipment Maintenance activities in accordance with customer requirements and Company’s Operating Procedures and good Industrial Practices.

Person who is competent in this Competency Unit shall be able to Prepare Preventive Maintenance Procedures, Conduct Preventive Maintenance, Prepare Corrective Maintenance Procedures, Conduct Corrective Maintenance, and Prepare Wireless Radio Equipment Maintenance Report in order to meet customer and industry requirements.

The outcome of this Competency Unit is person that shall be able to provide excellence Wireless Radio Equipment Maintenance to ensure customer satisfaction guaranteed and prompt actions taken in accordance with customer expectations and Company’s Policies, Rules and Regulations.
