| Penerangan CU | Offshore navigation is the navigation of vessel within offshore limits. The person who is competent in offshore navigation coordination shall be able to appraise navigational data, plan and navigate a vessel within offshore limits and determine the vessel's position. This includes identifying the most suitable route and to be able to transfer these effectively to a chart and passage plan, to acquire and interpret weather information when navigating a vessel, including the preparation of contingency plans for navigational emergencies. The person shall be able to apply coastal navigational techniques and fix vessel position using a range of instrumentation and navigational aids. The person must be able to verify the navigational requirements including the 500 meter safety zone requirements are met and record the navigation details in the relevant checklists and logbook. The outcome of this competency unit is to ensure offshore navigation is done free from accidents in accordance with a proper risk assessment and complying with national and international regulations. |
