Penerangan CUAdvertising and Promotion Strategic Management is to specify the organization's mission, vision and objectives, developing policies and plans, often in terms of projects and programs, which are designed to achieve these objectives, and then allocating resources to implement the policies and plans, projects and programs. Strategic management analyses the major initiatives taken by a company's top management on behalf of owners, involving resources and performance in external environments. It also provides the basis for maintaining optimum management practices through systematic analysis of the factors associated with customers and competitors (the external environment) and the organization itself (the internal environment). Strategic management involves a few processes such as analysis, decisions and actions that a company embarked on in order to create and sustain competitive advantage. The analysis involves the study of the company’s strategic goals (vision, mission and strategic objectives) by considering both internal (organisation) and external environment (customers and competitors) for maintaining optimum management practices. The strategic decision involves the determination on which marketplace that the company should be investing on. Strategic actions involve the execution plan in realising the planned strategies. It also involves the analysis of the business and to provide the best solution in maintaining its competitiveness in the market place. The person who is competent in this competency unit shall be able to analyse, providing good decisions and actions plan to supports the Strategic business Plan. At the same time, this strategic solution has to be sustainable, distinguish and not easily be replaced with substitutes. The outcome of this competency is to manage the company to achieve better alignment of corporate policies and strategic priorities in accordance with legislative bodies requirements.
