| Penerangan CU | This competency unit describes the skills, knowledge and attitude requirements in non-sterile items/ packs/ sets/ rigid containers handling that are considered contaminated and are received in the decontamination area only. All items received are inspected for completeness before dismantling and arranging into designated trays to be sent for washing process. Personnel handling contaminated item should wear appropriate PPE at all times and use good work-practice to minimize risk and adhere to Infection control policy. The person who is competent in non-sterile item handling shall be able to carry out collection of non-sterile items/ packs/ sets/ rigid containers, check and confirm individual non sterile items/ packs/ sets/ rigid containers completeness, sort non-sterile items/ packs/ sets/ rigid containers, Disassemble instruments with detachable/ multiple parts, prepare designated trays for washing process and carryout housekeeping and equipment maintenance duties The outcome of this competency is to handle non sterile item to ensure procedure to care for non sterile items/ packs/ sets/ rigid containers before sterilization process is conducted systematically. Non-sterile item collected from collection centre and delivered to Sterilization Service Centre (SSC) for preparation before washing is handled in accordance with International Standard (ISO 17664) of Sterilization Process. |
